In-Home Energy-Saving Audits:
Dakota Electric Association offers energy audits that include an in-home visit and suggestions to improve the comfort, durability, safety, and affordability of your home.
Dakota Electric Association will review a home’s energy use and then conduct a walk-through inspection of the home to identify and recommend energy-saving opportunities. Customers can call Energy Services at 651-463-6243 to discuss their usage over the phone and to schedule a home energy review.
For Dakota Electric customers with electric heat, or who use propane for heat, a similar energy audit is available. Call 651-463-6353 to schedule.
Get water-saving items for your home AT NO COST
The City of Hastings is partnering with CenterPoint Energy on their Do-It-Yourself program. You can order no-cost water-saving items for your home through this program. You can choose from four showerhead styles and two faucet aerator styles, along with other energy-saving items. A faucet aerator is the piece at the very end of kitchen and bathroom faucets where the water comes out.
These water-saving items are very easy to install yourself. Simply unscrew your current showerhead or faucet aerator and screw on the new one (with a little plumbing Teflon tape, if needed). Changing out one showerhead and one faucet aerator can help you save 3,100 gallons of water each year at your home. That’s about 86 bathtubs of water!
Visit CenterPoint Energy’s website at CenterPointEnergy.com/DIY or call 612-315-0622 to place an order and have them shipped to your home for free. Plus, Wi-Fi enabled and learning thermostats are also available at a reduced price. If eligible, you could receive up to a $50 rebate at checkout. Have your CenterPoint Energy account number ready.
