City Hall is conveniently located on Highway 61 in downtown Hastings, at 101 4th Street East.
Built between 1869 and 1871, Hastings City Hall was originally the Dakota County Courthouse and was built at a cost of $63,000. It was renovated in 1912, at which time the stunning Michelangelo style stained glass dome that you see today was installed. In 1991, the County sold the building to the City for $365,000. After $2,500,000 in remodeling and restoration, the City moved their offices to the building in December 1993. In addition to its beautiful architecture, Hastings City Hall also boasts an art collection of several hundred pieces which are available for viewing by the public during normal business hours.
