The City of Hastings holds municipal elections on the first Tuesday in November (following the first Monday in November) in even-numbered years and hold municipal primary Elections when the number of candidates is more than twice the number of individuals to be elected.

Running for Office
Individuals wishing to run for Councilmember during the 2024 Election must fill out and submit an Affidavit of Candidacy, along with the $5 filing fee, to the City Clerk. A Candidate Information Session will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 6:00 p.m. for those who may be interested in learning more about the role of a Councilmember.
Municipal candidate filing begins: Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 8:00 am
Candidate Information Session: Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 6:00 pm
Municipal candidate filing ends: Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 5:00 pm
Last day to withdraw candidacy: Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 5:00 pm

Campaign Signage Regulations
