Street and Utility Program

The City of Hastings has over 105 miles of city streets and 12 bridges that are maintained by the City’s Public Works Division. All of these streets require year-round maintenance including but not limited to: street sweeping, snow removal, pothole patching, street signage, tree trimming in right of ways, storm sewer maintenance, street lighting, and pavement markings.

 

 

 

Utilities Overview

Water Utility Systems

The City of Hastings Utilities systems include Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, and Hydro-electric, all maintained by the City’s Public Works Operations & Maintenance Division.  The City maintains more than 100 miles of watermain, 90 miles of sanitary sewer, six wells, three water towers, one water treatment plant, 1,300 fire hydrants, eight sanitary sewer lift stations, approximately 7,300 utility services accounts, and a 4 Megawatt hydro-electric plant located at Lock & Dam No. 2.
