Arbor Day Tree Planting
- Arbor Day is held each year in a different park in the month of May on a Friday afternoon. Check our City Calendar in Spring for details!
- The tree planting is an opportunity for individuals or groups to volunteer and learn from our City Forester!
Earth Day Birding Festival
- The birding festival is held each year in the month of April on a Saturday at Carpenter Nature Center

Parks & Trails Clean-Up
- Each year the Parks Department coordinates a Parks and Trails Clean up in Spring!
- If you would like to clean up a park or trail, please notify our office 651-480-6182 and our Parks Staff will assign you a park and provide supplies.
- Our staff will then pick up the full bags and other large or unsafe items found in the park.
- Please send us your photos via social media or to a Parks Department staff email.
Community Halloween Party
- The Community Halloween Party is held the Friday before Halloween at the Hastings High School. This event is free and open to the public, recommended for families with youth 10 and under.
- The event includes activity stations, DJ & games, Costume Contest & prizes!
Ice Fishing Adventures
- Ice Fishing Adventures is held in January and February on a Saturday morning at Lake Rebecca Park. View the City Calendar in winter to find more details or check our City of Hastings facebook page.
- This program is free and open to all ages, poles, bait, tackle and instruction is provided from volunteers.
- This event is in partnership with Carpenter Nature Center and The National Park Service along with many volunteers to help make it happen!
Paws in the Park
- Held in October, this annual event features a costume contest for pets at the Rivertown Dog Park in Hastings.
- Dog friendly booths and giveaways
- Drawings and prize baskets
- Hot dog dinner and more!
Snowshoe Guided Hike
- The Snowshoe Guided Hike is held in January and February on a Saturday or Sunday at Jaycee Park. View the City Calendar in early winter to find more details or check our social media pages.
- These programs are free and recommended for adults or teens, or youth 5 and older.
- Snowshoes are provided for free from Dakota County Parks system.
