ElectronicsElectronic products containing a cathode ray tube (such as TVs and computer monitors) may not be placed in the garbage.

Why?
They can contain 2 to 8 pounds of lead and other hazardous materials that can affect your health and the environment if incinerated or landfilled.

What to Do?
Residents of Dakota County can bring your electronics to The Recycling Zone

Starting August 1, 2016, residents must pay a $10 fee to recycle any size television or computer monitor. All other electronic items are free to recycle.

Electronics accepted

  • Cell/smart phones 
  • Computer equipment (laptop, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, modem, etc.)
  • Computer Monitors ($10.00 fee per item)
  • Desktop copiers/printers/scanners 
  • DVD/VHS players
  • Electronic games systems (Wii™, PlayStation™, Xbox®, Nintendo DS™, Leap Frog®, VTech®, etc.)
  • Fax/answering machines
  • Handheld game systems 
  • Portable media players
  • Small power tools
  • Stereo/radio equipment
  • Tablets, e-readers 
  • Telephones
  • Televisions ($10.00 fee per item)
  • Video game consoles/equipment

Small household electronics accepted (please remove batteries)

  • Blenders (remove jar, lid)
  • Bread makers

  • Coffee makers (remove glass pot)
