Seeking Visionaries for 2040 Comp Plan Committee
The City has begun the process to update the Comprehensive Plan, a key document that guides growth and development in Hastings. Nearly every city department, commission, and elected official utilizes this document as an important reference in planning and decision-making while conducting city business. The Metropolitan Council requires that all municipalities update their Comprehensive plans every 10 years. The new plan will be designed to provide guidance and vision for Hastings through the year 2040.
An important piece in developing an updated document will be to seek public input and opinion from local residents and business owners. City leaders wish to form a diverse 15 to 20 member Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee that will meet approximately once per month over the course of the next year. This group will collaborate with city staff, city council, and the Planning Commission to create a vision for the future of Hastings and the strategies to be used to achieve that vision. Meetings are set to begin in May.
